Political History:

In 1990 Sutton ran for her first public office in Barberton, Ohio, where she won a spot on the Barberton City Council.

A year later, Sutton was appointed to an at-large seat on the Summit County Council, where she served until 1992. Sutton was elected vice president of the council during her second year in office.

In 1993 she began serving in the Ohio House of Representatives she held this spot for eight years, at which point she was term-limited.

In 2006, Sutton ran for Ohio’s 13th U.S. House District seat vacated by Sherrod Brown.

In 2009 Sutton was named as Co-Chair of Democratic Caucus’ Congressional Task Force on Job Creation

Political Courage:

Representative Betty Sutton repeatedly refuses to provide any responses to citizens on the issues. When asked to complete the 2008 Political Courage Test, Sutton refused.
